Familiar yet formal, modest and quietly dignified – this residence softly defines a home meant for living- a two story dwelling for a newly married couple. Space planning was critical to achieving balance and flow through the house. The ground floor serves as the heart of the home – a combined kitchen, dining and living takes advantage of northern light on the ground floor. The fluted finish under the island bench provides a subtle nod to a ‘classical column’ in the kitchen, adding a moment of old-world charm to the modern space.
Handmade clay toned cement bricks adorn the staircase wall, providing a lived in yet contrasting backdrop to the crisp, clean lined metallic railing.
The main bedroom, wardrobe and master bath are located on the first floor, while a studio was included at the staircase landing looking over the orchard garden allowing the client to have a tranquil space for yoga.
This house serves as a true testament to considered design. It is a modern interpretation of a quaint home with subtle internal details hinting at an elegant past.
