Imagined primarily as a retreat; Peng’s flagship salon serves as a sanctuary from the city and celebrates the idea of slow living. In Chinese culture, the importance of jade has been likened to virtue. Traditionally adorned by women; it symbolises purity, integrity, and grace. Peng Qureshi of Malay-Chinese descent , epitomises the qualities of the Jade bracelet that dresses her wrist everyday; and is the pioneering force behind the salon which celebrates 40 years since its inception in Pakistan.

By employing an escapist ideology – the space was inspired by the equilibrium jade brings; fostering a harmonious union of body, mind and soul. For this, we envisioned a soothing environment that delivers poetic impact and leaves a memorable impression.

A carefully executed and gentle palette took over the floors, walls and wood work, allowing for a sense of calmness to prevail. The private and public spaces embody warmth through handcrafted materials and bamboo coverings offset by honed marble and matte lacquered cabinetry. 

There is a subtlety in shadow that seems to favour the restrained colour palette, encouraging an acute appreciation of soul and precision. The overall design experience driven by the harmonious contradiction of textural treatments creates moments for us to appreciate the craft, sensuality, materiality, specificity, delight and contentment that thoughtful design can bring.
