Vera villa offers a modern space that allows the home to breathe by welcoming light, tranquillity and comfort. The house currently provides a second home to a Karachi-based family of five, and its secluded location makes the venue ideal for a quick weekend getaway. To achieve this, we sought to balance outdoor and indoor living by creating a unified space that invites privacy and peace.
The structure, an architectural poem of light and lines, rises up from the sandy plains. The minimalist forms, complete with a medley of large and small window openings depending on the orientation makes for an idyllic setting yet ergonomic down to the tiniest detail.
Given the geometry of the lot itself, two wings with distinct environments were created, aiming for a greater diversity of use. The first one, parallel to the entrance of the plot, is characterised by the strong overhang of roof and clear visibility to the public thoroughfare thanks to large window openings. The second wing adjacent to the pool and its surrounding decks is more relaxed with filtered lighting.
The private and public volumes embody warmth through handcrafted materials and bamboo coverings offset by honed marble and matte lacquered cabinetry. Regular openings allow the exterior spaces to spill into the interior, allowing natural sunlight to gently filter through and unify the entire area.
